Quality & Integrity
Every grade, earned
A Seedling grade is a promise. It is the school's word that the student who holds it has demonstrated a specific set of knowledge, skills and understanding — under conditions that are fair, transparent and internationally recognised.
How We Assess
The Four Pillars of Assessment Quality
Reliability
Every assessment is designed to measure what it claims to measure — consistently, fairly and without bias — so that every grade a Seedling student earns is one they can stand on.
Validity
Tasks mirror real skills and understanding — not memorisation tricks. Students are assessed on the abilities they will actually need at university, in the workplace and in life.
Progression
Marks are tracked over time. We do not just see where a student is today — we look at how far they have come, and what they are ready for next.
Transparency
Students and parents see exactly what is being assessed, how it is being marked, and what the next steps are. There are no surprises at Seedling.
Our Awarding Standards
GRADING STANDARDS
Five principles govern every grade, mark and rank our school issues — at every stage from the Early Years through Cambridge Advanced.
Criterion-Referenced, Not Norm-Referenced
We do not grade on a curve. Each student is measured against a published set of criteria describing what they know and can do — never against the performance of their peers.
Internally Moderated
Before any grade is released, samples of student work are independently re-marked by a second teacher. Disagreements are resolved through structured moderation, so no grade rests on a single judgement.
Externally Benchmarked
Our internal assessments are aligned with Cambridge International grade descriptors and benchmarks. Where applicable, our students sit the same Cambridge examinations as their peers worldwide.
Grade Boundaries With Integrity
Grade boundaries are set in advance, using Cambridge statistical evidence and examiner judgement — and are never adjusted to manipulate cohort results.
Recognition of Effort and Growth
Beyond the final grade, we recognise sustained effort, character growth and contributions to the community — because a learner is more than a number.
